This is part of a large collection of very good quality salmon flies.

A nicely tied, fully dressed salmon fly hand tied by the late Bas Verschoor. Bas served on the Board of the Dutch Federation of Fly Fishers and as a member of the editorial staff of the magazine “The Dutch Fly Fisher”. FlyFair-Holland, one of the major fly fishing shows on the European Continent also made use of his services as Fly Tying Chairman.

He appeared in Judith Dunham’s book “The Art of the Trout Fly” in 1988 and inspired David Nelson to start a series of books entitled: “Patterns of the Masters”. Bas also delivered his keynote speech “One world of Fly Fishing”, at the 25th Anniversary FFF Conclave in Eugene, Oregon, in August 1990. He made his first appearance as European fly tyer at the Federation’s National Conclave in Penn State, Pennsylvania, in 1986. Since then, he has given fly tying demonstrations all over the United States and Europe.

Bas is the recipient of the FFF Ambassador Award (1989), Award of Fly Fishing Excellence (1989), The President’s Pin (1990), FFF Man of the Year Award (1992) and the “Charles Jardine Cup” (1992/’93).
