Description

A hand carved, unique stick made by Ian Taylor in Derbyshire. This particular stick is detailing a Mallard.

The heads of these sticks are made of rhododendron, amongst hazel or sycamore. The wood is hand selected and cut from natural shapes, it is then seasoned for 12-18 months.

The shafts are mostly hazel and some blackthorn, which can take a year to season. They are put into a steam tub to make them plyable and then straightened. Several coats of lacquer are applied to each one to give it its unique finish.
