In very good condition for its age, with only light signs of use and well preserved overall. This classic 12′ Kevin Maddocks “Dual Taper 3” carp rod was made in England by Simpsons of Turnford and dates from the mid-to-late 1980s—a highly respected and now hard-to-find rod from the early days of carbon carp tackle.

Kevin Maddocks is widely regarded as one of the founding figures of modern carp fishing, credited with popularising the hair rig and pioneering many of the techniques still used today. His Carbon Formula rods, developed in partnership with Simpsons of Turnford, reflect his practical experience and influence during a formative era of the sport.

Built on a slim, matte-finished carbon fibre blank with a distinctive dual taper design, the rod delivers a smooth, progressive action ideal for playing carp with control and finesse. Rated around 2¼ lb test curve, it offers excellent performance for medium- to long-range casting by the standards of the time.

Fitted with Fuji guides, brown whippings tipped with red, an abbreviated Duplon handle and Fuji graphite reel seat, this rod reflects the best of British custom rod building of its era. A true retro classic with growing collector interest, perfect for the traditionalist angler or vintage tackle enthusiast.
