Description

This lightly used John Goddard Nymph 8’6″ #5/6 split cane fly rod is a superb example of British rod-making heritage and finesse. Built in England and bearing the name of pioneering fly angler and tackle innovator John Goddard, it blends collectibility with fishability in equal measure. Crafted in classic two-piece split bamboo, it offers a smooth, responsive casting action that modern materials simply can’t replicate.

Finished in a rich honey-brown tone, the rod features copper-coloured silk whippings, a smooth cork handle, and a hardwood reel seat with a knurled alloy down-locking fitting. Snake rings throughout, along with a Fuji butt and tip, with snake rings throughout to ensure smooth line flow and dependable performance. The staggered ferrule design – with a longer tip section – enhances flex and balance, making this an ideal rod for dry fly finesse or nymph work with a #5 or #6 line.

Supplied with the original cloth rod bag, it’s a fine addition to any collection – but more than ready to be fished. Whether displayed or deployed on a trout stream, this John Goddard Nymph is a beautiful and capable tribute to traditional English fly rod design.
