In 2000, Masatoshi Okui started making high-end bench-made fly reels in Kyoto Japan.  His reels, although contemporary, are now highly sought after by both fishermen and collectors alike. Masatoshi not only produces reels of his own design, but he has also reproduced some classic reels from yesteryear.
