In very good condition. This Sharpe’s “The Aberdeen” 9’6″ split-cane fly rod presents beautifully, with rich impregnated cane, smooth cork handle, down-locking alloy reel seat, tight brass ferrule joints, low-bell rings with burgundy silk whippings, with two straight, matching tips.
A two-piece rod with two tips, “The Aberdeen” is built for a #6 line and offers a smooth, progressive action ideally suited to dry fly and light wet fly fishing. The impregnated cane construction—Sharpe’s hallmark—ensures excellent durability and water resistance, while maintaining the lively feel split-cane is known for.
Sharpe’s of Aberdeen was one of Scotland’s most respected rod-makers throughout the 20th century. Established in 1920, the company earned its reputation through practical, well-engineered tackle that stood up to hard fishing in all weathers. Their patented impregnation process, introduced mid-century, gave their rods legendary resistance to warping and rot, making them a favourite among ghillies, river-keepers, and seasoned fly anglers across the UK.
Whether you’re casting across a Highland loch or fishing dry flies on a lowland chalkstream, “The Aberdeen” offers classic charm, dependable performance, and the unmistakable feel of a traditional cane rod that was built to be used—and enjoyed.
