APPLICATIONS:
The Shimano Calcutta 700S has no top crossbar or level wind for easier spool access. Live-bait fishing often requires you to strip line off the top, increasing line flow and sensitivity through contact with the line. These types of reels are also excellent for winding on long leaders — sometimes the larger knots can’t pass through the level wind.
