Description

A hand carved, unique stick made by Ian Taylor in Derbyshire. This particular stick is detailing a Kingfisher.

The heads of these sticks are made of rhododendron, amongst hazel or sycamore. The wood is hand selected and cut from natural shapes, it is then seasoned for 12-18 months.

The shafts are mostly hazel and some blackthorn, which can take a year to season. They are put into a steam tub to make them plyable and then straightened. Several coats of lacquer are applied to each one to give it its unique finish. This particular stick has been made into a twisted design.
